What does a typical day shift for a fellow look like?

7:00-8:00AM: morning sign out followed by pre-rounding with the attending

8:00-9:00AM: chart review with IM residents

9:00-9:30PM: multidisciplinary rounds

9:30-12:00PM: teaching rounds with fellow, attending and 2 residents

Afternoon: procedures, admission, consults, rapid responses, codes

5:00-7:00PM: sign out between fellows

What does a typical night shift for a fellow look like?

7:00-7:30PM: receive patient list and sign out from long call fellow

Rest of night is spent chart reviewing, completing admissions/consults

New admissions and consults overnight are staffed with a tele-intensivist

Are there other fellows or residents in the hospital?

48 Internal Medicine Residents

24 Emergency Medicine Residents

12 General Surgery Residents

18 Radiology Residents

20 Orthopedic Surgery Residents

All of the above services do rotate through ICU

5 Gastroenterology Fellows
